  • Using VraySamplerInfo to store camera transforms - possible?

In the thread with the DeNoiser submission script (by Lele) he was talking about using VraySamplerInfo for an unfiltered z-depth pass.

He also wrote "And once you have points working, what's stopping you from bringing camera transforms in, and do, hem, things...?" I didn't really understand...

So Lele (or anyone else) do you mean camera transforms can be stored in a render element? Like having XYZ as an RGB value (presumably uniform across the frame)?

I just want to know if it's possible to store the camera and camera target's positions within render elements? With VraySamplerInfo or however....

Maybe this will help you: camera transform values are written into the metadata of every frame (using .exr).

Not sure if that will help. Can Aftereffects extract that info? I don't have Nuke (which I presume can access it.)

Then you'd have the issue of having to get after effects to interpret it and apply it to your camera. Might be handier to just buy something like boomer lab's plugin or if you've got a maxscript person, try copying an after effects camera or a load of keyframes from after effects and paste it into a text file - it's human readable so it'd be very possible to have maxscript write out a file in the same format that after effects expects when you paste stuff to it.

Right Jon... I have used the those methods in the past. I like the idea of having the camera info baked into the frames though so I don't have to keep updating the camera values manually. If it was stored in a render element as rgb, I'm pretty sure there's a simple after effects expression that could be used to sample a pixel value and apply it to the cam position. Not 100% certain... But pretty sure that could be done.

I couldn't find anything for after effects but I've used this method in Fusion in the past. There's a free version of it! www.blackmagicdesign.com
