  • Candle wax, flame and illumination

I have a dimly lit space that will have a bunch of candles in it.

Anybody have some tips for the wax material, the flame, as well as the illumination that go with it? It needs to look pretty realistic. In the past I used the wax model of the VRayMtl, but was wondering if there's a better more realistic way. I usually wing the flame with billboards, but want something more realistic.

I don't have Fume, but could try the PhoenixFD demo, if it will allow me to make at least 20 flames at the same time. Or we could just skip that bit and do it the old fashion way
    Kind Regards,

    Hey Morne

I have used the FastSSS2 for wax before.
For flames I used animated invisible vray lights for the flicker and footage mapped to planes for the actual flames.
I'd have to dig a bit as it was a while ago that I did the stuff, but I'll see if I can find the files.
