  • Glass edge

    Hello,
i just found a problem with the latest beta 1.45.70
    Look at the glass edges

and now rendered with the new beta

    or

    the parameters

And here is the scene (MAX 6), if you like to make some tests.

    http://www.studioarchitec.de/z_forum/edge.rar

There is basically the same scene, just rendered with 1.09.03.r and 1.45.70.
I have changed some parameters, but there are no better results
    - max depth 8, 12 or 50
    - cutoff 0,01 or 0,0001
    - max transp. levels 50 or 1000
    - AA methods

Do you have a idea how to get the old clear edge ?

    Kind regards
    Alexander

Apparently there is a new feature in the latest builds that is meant for render liquids inside glasses more accurately, it calculates the IOR properly for the faces that are both touching liquid and glass.

It seems as if it is affecting your glass shelves. I dont know if there is a way to turn it off or to change it as i have not used the new builds yet. But have a look around as im pretty certain thats whats happening to you.

Also is the glass door touching the glass shelves? if it is try moving it away alittle bit more.

      Hello DaForce,
the glass shelves do not touches the door in the front and the solid sides. The door no not touch the solid side to.

There is a bug in 1.45.70 that could cause this effect (there was another thread on caustics with similar issues); I have fixed this for newer builds; send me an email to vlado@chaossw.com if you need it urgently.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Have I seen that you have already solved the problem, as you have gotten it?
