  • render elements.......

    hi /.............
    im new to v-ray..

can u help me, i cant find 'render elements' in vray...

how ll i render passes, like shadows, reflections, etc etc..

  • #2
A/. If you are going to export them as a .rla or .rpf files, go to the Vray render dialogue, G-Buffer then select the output channels you want.

B/. To see each layer of the image - go to Frame Buffer and tick

'Enable Built-in Frame Buffer' and 'Render to Memory Frame Buffer'.

This will bring up a window - Vray Frame Buffer allowing you to see the various rendered elements (drop down, top left) and save them out as necessary.

Further information can be found in the help file.

    Hope this helps

      I forgot to mention.

If you want to see specific layers in the Vray Frame Buffer - you need to select them on the G Buffer output channels.

For shadows and reflections - go to the G-Buffer Output channels and select Reflect and Shadow.

When you render and the Vray Frame Buffer comes up, scroll down from the menu on the top left and select Reflections and then Shadow.

In my test this shows the

Sorry, in my test this shows the reflections and the shadows on separate layers.

To save them out for an animation, select the layers you want from the G-Buffer Output Channels and render the animation, saving it as a sequence.

Alright, there is the problem - I am using 1.45.70

I have been waiting for 1.45 for some time to have a good look at the new features - render elements is one and it works well.

At the moment, you will need the full Vray Advanced version to use these new features.

                  Regards

                      mukks:

                      Easy fix mate,
Just log on to your account at the vray website and you can simply download the latest version of vray. And then you have all the render elements you need

                          thanks

Vray is capable of rendering far more layers than I show in this tutorial, but this will get you started.

I'm just trying to lear this my self, and I did some test w/ render passes and post comping in Pshop w/ different blending modes....

here's my PSD file if you wanna take a look at what passes I used and w/ what blending modes.......I also used the shadows pass method suggested in Seraph's tute.

                              here's the PSD (version 7)
