  • processor to ram ratio

    Hi all

Quick question, hopefully with an easy answer.

I remember a long time ago being told that each bucket when rendering requires its own amount of ram. Therefore, if you add extra processors, you also need additional ram for each processor. Is this true? Basically, I'm currently upgrading my 64gig 18 core single processor Xeon with an additional processor and wondering if I will need an additional 64 gig of ram ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Will

Any dual xeon board has two sets of ram slots one set for each cpu. If you have 64 gb of ram, then they should be spread evenly between two cpus, i.e. 32 in each section.
