    Hi,

    I am currently doing an interior image and am using photon mapping for my secondary bounces. The final image is to be quite large approx. 5000x3500 pixels and am using split rendering to get it rendered.

    I am having a problem with storing photon maps. I have been using photon maps for all interiors so far and have been generating the photons for each strip in the render. This works but is not economical considering the photon map needs to be generated about 25 times by each participant.

    Here is where my problem begins, I thought that by storing the photon map and loading it from file I could bypass this step and end up with quicker render times but the photon map just won't save.

    I have done a test with a simpler scene and it seems to save but I haven't tested it properly. I guess my question is, are there any known problems with storing large photon maps or is there anything I could be doing wrong?
