  • Multi-Threading Problems...

    Hi,

A few quick questions about rendering etc,. I've just been rendering my scene (with multithreading on), the scene had volumetrics, but no GI. I noticed that in the Task Manager's performance section, the highest it was going was 50% on all processors. At that time, the render time was 2 min 17 secs.

Then I decided to see how much processing power it would take if I turn multithreading off, and the scene rendered in 46 seconds! So I guess that my first question is why, and my second question is how when the scene is rendering do I get all the processors up to FULL POWER?

    My system is:
    Dual Pentium 2.66 Xeons
    1 Gig Ram
    GeForce Quadro MX500

    Thanks for the help...

    Ciao
    Bryan

PS I'm on Max 6 and Vray 1.09.03r

    Best regards,

      Hi Vlado,

My memory usage is sitting around 634megs while rendering, even though I've got a gig of ram.... what do you think I should do?

      Thanks
      Bryan

I saw on a different thread that someone was have similar problems,, and he solved it by deleteing his 3dsmax.ini and reopening max. (i think)

see how you go. (backup your old 3dsmax.ini first)

          Do you have hyperthreading enabled?

          Best regards,
