  • Hair flickering

    Hello, I m testing ornatrix hair and i ofc im getting some flickering in my beauty.
    I dont have a perfect simulation and my geometry is bouncing a bit, but the thing is that i see flickering in my lighting pass. I was expecting only in my gi pass. In my reflection/spec passes i do not have flickering.
    I dont know if its a material issue so im attaching the settings as well.
    I rendered with RT gpu with not very high settings, my lc was 1024 but idk if that was the issue here. The only other thing i did, i checked lock noise pattern and changed filter to area with 1.5. Rest default
    I let it render 1:30 min per frame with 2 x 980ti to see what i get. The image was clearing up well so i let it there.

    I dont attach gi, cause no need is obviously similar to lighting and the most flicker is logical to come from there.

    Hi Thanos,

    Looks like the "Random by strand index" option of the VRayHairInfoTex shows inconsistency between animation frames in RT GPU. Thanks for the report !
    If it was that easy, it would have already been done

      Thanks for the reply. Ru sure that this is the case? I mean with my settings, what should i increase to stop flickering?
      I made a new anim test with much better simulation and the flickering is there, but far less noticeable (at the end of the video).

        We will need to get you a new build when we fix this in a couple of days; I'm afraid there is nothing you can do on your side if you want to keep the random by strand texture. You can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com with your 3ds Max version and I'll try to get you a fixed build when we have it.
