Hi all,
This might be a bit random. I need to make a photoreal hedge in Max/Vray.

Can anybody recommend any good tools to create this?

Depends on what kind of hedge, you have a lot different types, and also has the hedge been trimmed or not,..etc

Forest or Multiscatter. I have done some recent work using Multiscatter. I used Multiscatter because I already set one up a few years ago. If you look at my site, you can see my Multiscatter hedges in the mansion renderings.

simplest option, buy one in. it`ll cost more in hours spent modelling than buying it off evermotion/turboqsquid etc. there also used to be a site with pretty decent free ivy/hedges etc. can`t remember the name of it.
if it`s for a job anyway.

Not sure how other plugings work, but buying a 3d hedge and multiplying it never worked for me, I just didn't like it. You could see it repeating. So I model the shape of the hedge and use multiscatter to scatter a bunch of leaves or branches on it. I just take some from the trees or bushes I have.
