  • New Xeon compatibility

I’m in the process of specifying a new workstation. Has any one used the new Xeon 800 Mhz FSB bus/ PCI express with VIZ 4? I’m concerned about video driver compatibility. Ive had no trouble with XP Pro on my other machines.

    Thanks for your help.

have you thought about upgrading to viz2005?
i think it's probably less likely to have compatability issues than viz4, but i don't see why there would be any...

if you're worried it might be worth asking on the cgarchitect forums or the autodesk discussion groups for viz.

also worth considering is whether vray 1.5 is going to be released for viz4. currently the beta version of vray isn't compatible...

I've been thinking about upgrading. Is DR supported with VIZ 5 and Vray vers 1.09.03n?

I have asked Tedi at Chaos and he assured me that Vray 1.5 will be recompiled for Viz 4. Maybe the beta is not working but it will. I will be buying soon and all I got is Viz 4.

I just put together a new system with dual 3.0 noconas and a Supermicro x6dal-g, I am having a few issues with getting windows to use Hyper Threading, other than that it runs great. As far as compatibility I am running a geforce pcx5300 it istalled the latest drivers from nvidia without a hitch. Max 6 and V-Ray are running great.
