  • Trouble with Bloom and Glare?

The bloom and glare is applying to my entire object, so I turn on the masks to try and set the intesity to only the pixels with the brighter values and check the pixel information. But there are a lot of numbers on the pixel information...is it the float or the 16 bit or the 8 bit numbers...which one am I supposed to be looking at? Correct values or regular ones?

Also, what pass am I supposed to be taking my pixel information from to base the intensity setting on, the RGB?

I've tried just playing with some numbers, but can't get it to work like I'm understanding. Also, I have a glare image created from the vray filter tool thing, but that is not working out either.

All I get is one big glare around the entire image.

OK, after changing to adv from rt, I'm getting different results, but I'm still lost of the pixel information number...does bloom and glare act differently in RT? I didn't see bloom and glare mentioned here:

OK, I'm still not getting this...I set the intensity down to what I thought should work, but now no glare or bloom...all numbers maxed (except for intesity at .75) and nothing appears...I'm not getting this.

Plus I keep getting a Direct light manager hang and have to quit and restart max...man is this frustrating.

I may switch to redshift or something else.

Yeah this could be something that needs work, it will get better, you need to check the first float number of the lenseffectsource element.

It's better to enable lens effects in the VFB too instead of in the environment/effects dialogue.

The numbers that you need for the Mask intensity is the Color(Float): value

what pass am I supposed to be taking my pixel information from to base the intensity setting on, the RGB?
              RGB

keep in mind that the intensity of the bright spots should be quite high in order to get a good lens effects. If the value is around 1 the effect will be hardly noticable.

does bloom and glare act differently in RT?
they should work in a similar fashion. If you have them different you can send us an example scene to support so we could investigate further.

OK, thanks. Please excuse my freakout, my deadline was causing me stress.

Regarding the Color (float) value, is that the Corrected value in red text or the other Color (float) value in white text in the pixel information dialog?

One more question, I can't get it to work with active shade and RT on GPU, does it not work with active shade?
