  • New Xeon systems

    Has anyone tried one of the new Xeon systems with 800mgz bus and PCI express graphics yet. If so I’m wondering how you like it and also how it performs with Vray, especially VIZ 4.

      DP, I assume you are getting a new system. Would you mind sharing your specs?

        I just built a new one, sofar no problems and it seems pretty quick.

        2x 3.0 GHZ 800fsb
        Super Micro x6dal-g
        2 GB Registered ECC (non-branded infineon)
        PCX 5300

        It is about 10%-15% faster than my Dual 2.8 533fsb

                it does only take up to 3gb but i have had it up to 3.3gb.

                Particle flow works really nicely with lots of ram!

                  @jacksc02

                  @jacksc02:

                  I also got a new PC at work. It is a Dual Xeon 3.06 with 3GB RAM. We ordered the PNY Quadro FX3000 grafic card. Is that the same card you have?

                  Unfortunately we could not squeeze any pixel out of her. The screen stayed black after switching the system on. Even the grafic card's fan did not work at all. So we tried a bios update, but nothing helped. We have sent the card back to our dealer. He tested the card too and it worked fine. Now the FX 3000 is on its way back to our company. It might be an power supply problem. We are using a Tagan 480W "Power-box" (I do not know the english word - but I think you know what I mean).
                  Did you have any problems with your grafic card? Or anyone else?

                  Regards,
                  Mirko

                    if its a server mobo you might need one of those power supplies with 3 different power connections to the mother board.

                      @Da_Elfe: Thanks for the tip. But I think we have fixed it now. It has been the 3GB RAM components. They do not work together properly when the fx 3000 is plugged into the system.
                      Now I have to work with 2GB of ram, nut it works fine

                      Regards,
