  • How to create Illuminated Lettering ?

    Can anyone give guidance on how to create this kind of glass / lettering or symbols please ?

    Fake it with VRayLightmtl and opacity for the graphic. Stick that half a mm in front of the glass/perspex panel. Can also cheat the edges of the panel like that.

    Or you could use a normal glass and in the refraction part, add a mask in the glossy for the graphic. This approach may look better but take longer to render (only add the glossy map to one side of the panel, not both)

      Blend material with base glass/plexi + lightmaterial logo on top using the logo shape as mask. You can use a MatID channel in the logo material and render out a MultiMatteElement pass of that (mask) and add the glow in post production. As for the illuminated inner glass borders, it would be quite difficult to achieve that directly in max. I would add a different material ID to the border faces (using the same glass as for the rest), thus rendering an additional MultiMatteElement out of that and add the glow/light effect in post.
