  • I have problems with 2sidedmaterial - how to create this lampshade ?

Please can someone give guidance on creating a material like this orange lampshade ?

I always seem to have problems with 2sided materials, which is what I'm imagining would be necessary here - for example, for 2sidedmaterial to work, must the geometry not have a thickness ? (i.e. it must be like a Plane geometry) ? In which case the geometry wouldn't be correct as it does have some thickness.

    Please advise

    Thanks.

I was right, the object mustn't be a shelled object, but plane, single-sided - I will try again

I think if you have a shelled geometry you'd have to do it with SSS (correct me if I'm wrong).

2SidedMtl should actually work fine on volumetric objects as well:

Oh it does? I remember some warning VRay gave (or mabye it was in the help section?) about using that material with volumetric objects may lead to very long rendertimes.
