  • License problem

    Hi,

I run the Vray license on a server, which I tested and it works. The computer normally used for rendering is networked to this server and I can browse the server from this machine, so my network connection is working, but it won't see the Vray license.

It used to work untill about a week ago, but now I have no luck.

    I need help.

    Thanks

Did you install any new anti-virus or firewall software the past week? If so this is most likely the problem.

      Firewall

I do have a firewall installed, but VRay was working even with it installed. I will check if a setting has been changed, but since I have access to the server with the firewall settings as they are at present, should VRay not have access to the license file as well?

      Thanks

Not necessarily, the firewall would allow normal file browsing, but it could still be disallowing VRay from communicating with the licence server.

          Firewall Yep

          Hi egz

U were spot on it is the firewall, if I shut it down all works fine. I just don't know yet how to have it working while the firewall is running.

I checked and Vray does have communication rights.

I am using Blackice, so if anybody else has a similar setup, I would appreciate guidance in how to solve this.

          Thanks

As far as I know they have changed the licence server for the next build so that it will be more compatible with FW and AV software. I don't know when this will be released though.
