  • Cant render a Material ID in Vray?

Hello and thanks for your time,
I can't seem to render out a material ID channel image even when I assign material ID's to each different Vray material.
I add in Vray MTLID in the Render Elements window. I apply a Vray material ID to the default Max way and the Vray way.

My Vray materials is actually a "Vray Composite" material with a base material and several different Vray materials stacked on top. Each Vray material has an opacity mask to isolate regions where I want that material to show through.
My feeling is the Vray Composite Material doesn't produce MTL ID'...

I can render an Object ID image however, but I need more than that.

    any idea?

Vray Composite ? Do you mean VRayBlendMtl ? Can you share your material setup ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Hey, Actually made a mistake, its a 3DSmax standard "composite material". In there I have different Vray materials stacked up on each other with different opacities.
I guess the 3DS max Composite material might be throwing off the VRay materials that are stack inside?
      ?

Yep - try the VRayBlendMtl and map the blend amounts of the coat materials - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...C+VRayBlendMtl
