  • Scene Bounding box is too large

    Hello all,

V-ray messages roll-out is warning me: Scene Bounding box is too large, possible raycast errors.

is this is warning to worry on ? or it is fine to continue? any possible solutions?

    thanks

I often have this error and ignore it.

As maxedesa said - in most cases you can safely ignore the warning, the scene should render fine.

I feel lucky when I have scenes where I don't have that . It shows up when you have things too far from origin. Of course when you have big scenes you'll almost always have that. It's showing because the further you go from the origin the less accurate the calculations are.

As others told you, you can most of the time ignore this warning and render safely. But even if V-Ray renders fine I would advise you to try and fix this anyway, because 3ds max may behave in strange ways : display glitches, complicated navigation, precision problems, etc.

It's a good indicator that your system units might be too small.

Yes, you have to change system units to something bigger. It show when you have lets say 1km big scene, but milimetres as system units are used. VRay render this fine I think, but moving in perspective viewport or camera may be problematic.

I'm afraid that's not possible. AFAIK double precision calculations has never been implemented in 3ds max. If you really need this you should switch to cinema4d or other packages that support it.
