  • Standalone denoiser use on animated sequences

The docs recommend this method. Question is, if adding the denoiser element already denoises the rgb pass by using the required elements, isn't running the sequences through the standalone later denoising twice? Is there a way to add the required denoiser elements but leave out rgb denoise step so this can be done only by the standalone, thereby saving some render time? The docs say it is better to use the standalone for sequences, I'm guessing in order to take into account neighboring frames.

Basically, what's the best way to use the denoiser for sequences?

Add the denoiser render element, but set its mode to "Only generate render elements". Then render out your sequence to .vrimg or multichannel .exr files and run the standalone denoiser on the rendered frames.

The useGPU=2 worked really well for me. 2x980ti's (OC'd). CPU (i7 3770K OC'd to 4.3GHz) was ~43 seconds, both GPUs ~4 seconds. Per frame.
