  • Objects invisible to camera but visible in matte render element

    Hi,

I bet this has probably been asked several times, but I could not find anything specific when searching forums...

I am curious if it's possible to have a mesh that's not visible to camera, but still present in matte render element. Basically I have a scene object which must not be seen in beauty pass, but I would still like to have matte of it for compositing purposes, without need to render the scene twice. I realize this is fringe use case and quite a fake, so it's not big deal if it's not possible, but would be quite helpful if it is.

    Thanks in advance

This is not possible out of the box but check if the following workaround would be a better approach than rendering the scene one more time for the mattes:

Yes it is, I wish being that smart to invent such workarounds
