  • Let it bleed, let it bleed.

    Hey guys,

Currently producing some apartment interiors (nothing fancy) and the ceilings are quite low (2300mm) so I'm getting a larger than usual amount of bleed from the floor colour onto the walls; do those of you that regularly do interiors just let this happen as it would in the real world, or do you try and tame it within the renderer? I have always left it as it is because I prefer the "physically correct" approach to things.

I usually do a material override if the color bleed is too much. Mostly, my floors change the color of my walls, so that is where I use the override material.

Yup, like Bobby said. VRay Material Override, with a desaturated / white material in the GI slot, will help solving this kind of problem.

So no people that still leave it in and achieve decent results then?

Care to share an example of what you think is too much bleed? I never cared about the bleed actually but I might need to start doing this if results are actually better.

Well, this one isn't as bad as it was now that I've adjusted the white balance to compensate - 4,000K felt a little unnaturally low for a daytime shot, but I guess if it works... I Think I'm going to let the colour bleed on this, as I do prefer it when the effect is subtle.
