  • curtains? again

hi all. i need some help on rendering realistyc transparent curtains
using Vray with MAX6, i need to know exact MATERIAL SETTINGS, and light settings that produce such effect, also does it differ from Nurbs to editablepoly to extruded splines , does it differ in the results, and what about the Normal issue? , and should i give the curtains some thickness or not?i read some threads here in the forums but unfortunatly all the links and pics are now history, i wonder if there is anyway to retrieve this data, so plz help, thanx in Advance

Its impossible to give exact settings for curtains, as alot of them use SSS or some type of translucency and that is very scale dependant.

Model them how ever you wish but they should have some thickness.

    Try looking here

    and here

    and here

    Hopefully that will help.

thanx Daforce for replying, when i give them some thickness do i have
to set translucent in the MEditor, and if so how is "Thickness" (under translucent) related to the file unit system, so i can determine which number to give it?
and last how can i see the early threads about curtains with all of the
      pics and links "alive" ?
      thank you

Well that is one way of doing it. It depends on how you want it to look.

Yeah just play with the thickness, trial and error I dont know exactly how it relates to the unit system.

If the old threads pictures are not working there isnt much you can do. Maybe post in there asking the author to rehost the images.
