texture creating apps?

does anyone have experience with texture creating apps? Like /don't like. Worth taking the time to implement and learn how to use?

Here is one I became aware of that looks interesting.

There seems to be a number of other similar apps out there. I've always done all this "by hand" but if there is a better way... Esp for creating seamless textures out of the crazy distorted iphone photos of stone and etc that are often provided by clients.

For some things pixplant is really good, its not that expensive and worth having imo. Sometimes it works miracles.

pixplant has a watermarked demo, so you can try it out proper on your own textures.
