  • Rescale hair & fur WSM

    Hey guys,

I've got an object with hair & fur world space modifier applied - the scene is built in mm.

When I import it into my scene (built in cm) the fur disappears/doesn't render - it doesn't even show up in the viewport.

I've tried rescaling the hair/fur/units in the original file but to no avail - I just can't get it to merge into my scene correctly.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? Or if there is a way to convert Hair & Fur wsm to vrayfur? Or if there's a work-around such as converting to mesh? I did try converting to a mesh, but then I couldn't get the hairs to render with the correct colours.

All I want is to be able to import this model into my scene and render it.

Why not just before merging, change units to mm, then straight after change back to cm.

Will give that a go, thanks!

[edit] Come to think of it, this doesn't seem to merge correctly into a new scene that is set up in mm anyway. The fur all disappears - only the guides show up (when the display guides checkbox is checked). No fur. Any ideas?

          Hello Macker,

I would try this (Can't verify right now, but worth a try.)

          1) Save your current hair settings as a preset
          2) Convert your guides to splines in tools
          3) Export object plus splines
          4) Put new Hair/Fur on
          5) Select Recomb from Splines and select your splines exported in 2
          6) Load your preset. (Maybe have to switch order of 5 and 6.)
          7) Might have to merge in your effect from effect tab.

          Any luck?

            That is odd Macker.

What version of max are you running? I did a test yesterday in 2016 and it seamed to work fine.
