wowow Steve, you force my admiration ! v3.5 is just out, another great release from Chaos Group, and you're already interested in v4.0 ? seriously ?
many things to fix here and there in a few patches before v4.0 IMHO ...

I know - I was just bothering you a bit
That being said, by curiosity, what would you wish for v4 ?

Good question. To be perfectly honest I don't even have the knowledge to foretell how things might progress for Vray and rendering in general. Speed improvements are always a good thing of course. I'm not sure how Vray will improve further. Maybe support for more complex shaders that produce even more realistic results, faster GPU rendering but I guess that is also down to the GFX card manufacturers. What would you like to see ?

            My list
            1. Light Mixer!
            2. Better and more accurate material preview in the material editor. Maybe CUDA accelerated?
            3. Newer and more flexible VFB that also allows you to select the order of CC operations.
            4. ...?

From my point of view, here are a few first suggestions:

              1. Like Alex_M, about better / more accurate material preview in mat editor
              2. VFB features like set focus point for DoF (like the recent addition with VRayRT), allowing interactive DoF setup with IPR
              3. Better / more efficient presets system (yet to precise TBH)
              4. More materials / maps features displayed in 3dsmax viewport, like VRay SoftBox for example, or even VRay Blend material
              5. Ability to save / load presets for Bloom and Glare lens effects in the VFB

              ... more to come

in my opinion this time it will take lots of time to get 3.5 rock stable...and what more, there are clearly some areas where vray need a bit more work when it comes to optimisations on multithreaded machines i am experiencing some really weird stuff going on in my scenes)
Chaosguys better not take the AD route when it comes to new features and i am sure theyre fully aware of that.
                That being said...
Poor Vlado when he reads this thread ))

                BTW
i ve tried coronas light mixer and its not as shiny as one would think when you operate with a bigger scene

You're 100% right on these points. To be clear, talking about v4 is only for the discussion I'd say, no hurry if you ask me
v3.5 is a beautiful beast that deserves / needs polishing here and there, so we as users must focus on it, taking the best out of it (IPR ... aaahhhhhh) and reporting problems as they come.

From what I've read there will be at least one more free SP. Don't make them consider to get sooner to the next full (paid) version than they originally planned.
Since I'm expecting update costs for the rendernode licenses, I'm a little afraid of the next main release to be honest.

I would love to see a light mixer as well, never had a chance to play with that myself but the videos from Maxwell and Corona looks fantastic. Is it only usable for interiors or could that be of use with an exterior and HDRI as well?

Otherwise I'm all for a more accurate material preview in the material editor, especially with CUDA. I believe Vlado mentioned he was hoping to have it in 3.5 but never made it and would show up in a later update.

                        Hey

Why are you requesting a light mixer ?! Its light select. Just load lights in PS in 32 bits and adjust them via exposure... Its pretty useless feature to have it in Vray to be honest.

My understanding was that light select does not give the same result as you would get from for example Corona's light mixer?

No, its not. In Vray GI is not divided by light,so you cant change light source with its GI! Light select is only for prime GI.

The GI component of Light Selects REs is planned as an addition for 3.6.
However, i thought the thread was a question to the Devs, but it's turning into a wishlist, and mentioned Corona and Maxwell within page 2...
Could we perhaps keep it cleaner than another App Features Brawl? ^^
