I dunno, I searched the net and all I get images like the ones cmejia showed ealier. May be what I'm looking for is not carbon fiber...doesn't matter what the name of the material is.
Any way all I want to do is a translucent sheet with vray mtl.

Translucent isn't really a very specific description, it could look a dozen different ways. Where would this material be used? Maybe that will help us figure out what it is called, and thus what it looks like.

But for starters, try playing with the translucency settings in the VRayMtl.

Well it's used in shades and pergolas, and in stadium coverage. It's used where you want soft light but no direct sunlight.
