  • How to Use ID maps in 3ds Max

    Hi all,

I have been really struggling to follow this tutorial done in Maya https://texturing.xyz/pages/getting-...o-fabrics-maps
(Look at the first video and fast forward to 6 min)

I have an ID map that has Red, Green, Blue in the image and I wish to use those channels as a mask.

Can anyone help me follow the workflow in the video but using 3ds max?

    Any help would be appreciated

one way would be in the output rollout of the bitmap > enable color map > set to RGB > then set, as an example, the green and blue graph to 0 and you'll be left with the red channel.

should work. another way is with a color correction map. set desired channels to zero leaving the channel you want to use.

I know no direct way to do this. But the simplest, to my knowledge, is using the RGB Tint map to extract your RGB channels.

Yep, as pointed above, RGB Tint is the map you want. For example, if you want to extract Red mask, just set R slot color to white, and G and B slot colors to black
