  • Noise in the light/reflection pass

    Hi,

Is there any way to have more samples in the lighting/reflection pass?
I really like the way vray works but I find my self in trouble some cases where I would need some extra samples in some passes like reflection or lighting.
I dont want to go back and use local subdivs again so help me out how can I add more samples to areas where I need them the most.

For GI I use IR+LC for 85% of the time.

Usually I use setting like you can see attached.

I use to have this problem when I would use the raw lighting pass in post and the scene was an interior with soft diffuse light coming through the windows. If you create some vray plane lights positioned at the windows (pointing inward) and check "skylight portal" in the options it will help add more sampling to the raw lighting pass. It seems like you could also just position and aim these lights anywhere that's lacking samples. Not sure if this is necessarily the best way to solve your problem though...

      Thanks,

Im just not sure if I should add more max AA subdivs or lower the noise treshold even more...
I also get the concept of the Min shading rate but dont know how much is enough.
My goal is to have a really nice clean render with elements good enough to use in photoshop.

I also get that these settings are scene dependent but it would be nice to see what settings are used by others

try higher min shade rate , something like 16 or 32.
