  • Vray Jelly SSS Material Help

As per title - i'm trying to create a jelly like material in Vray 3.5.

I followed this video - but not really having much joy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lu-5TOKMVOY

When I switch from simple to retraced refractive in the SSS options panel (6.40 in the video) - I don't get the nice light scattering shown in the video?

    Any ideas guys?

Think I may be getting there - it's working better now I have colours set right. Any pointers towards a good Jelly material online would be appreciated so i can compare

Can you post a picture of what you want to get as an end result?

          Best regards,

            Hi Vlado.

            Appreciate the response
I'm creating a simple Jelly house illustration for an ad - this is where I got to today, modelling and lighting the mesh.
I think it's looks ok - but i'm still not really getting much light inside the model - perhaps it's simply due to the shape of the model and it's brick like form!

The purple Jelly is the kind of look I want to achieve.

The other thing that's confusing me - is when I use Vray RT on the GPU - the image looks really good - with no see through / blue-ish-white areas. But when I use Vray CPU production render I get these very bright areas with tints of blue in them? Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

These are only visible when rendering on white - if i render on black then as per previous post the image looks ok and does not have them - very confusing

If you're trying to match the look of that purple jelly I would think that a vraymtl with fog should get you most of the way there.

                  Hi AJ.

Cheers for that - just what I needed - a new perspective I was convinced using the SSS shader was the way to go - but using a standard material with fog looks cool and I think will be closer to what the client ultimately wants.
