  • Find out which version of Vray used in old scene

    I have an old 3D Max scene which used a specific version of Vray

    Is there a definitive way to find out which version of Vray is used in a scene?
    Ideally I would rather not have to install each Vray just to see if it asks to update vray models (when opening the scene).

    Cheers!

    This feature is was implemented in V-Ray 3.50 and it could be used in the future using the following Max Script command:

    vraysavedversion()

    Unfortunately, this feature will not work with scenes saved with older versions of V-Ray.

      If you attempt to render the scene through 3dsmaxcmd.exe, it will print the version of V-Ray that the file was saved with (the same version as seen in the title bar of the Render Setup dialog). Maybe it can be a clue.
