  • AdjustRenderWidth for Vray, vray overscan alternative.

    Hi there,

I use this script a lot for widening my shots (archviz) with a vray physical camera.
Unfortunately it only works with a vray camera.
Now I'm merging cameras from old scenes just to use this script.
I'd like to switch to the max physical cam but need an alternative for this script.

Didn't find it at scriptspot for now.

Does anyone know an alternative for this script or can (re)write it for the max physical camera?

Would be great to get this to work.

    Thx!

I don't know of an alternative script
But in the meantime, it is pretty easy to calculate the focal length by yourself :

Say your scene is set to render at 800x600 and your camera has a focal length of 40mm. If you want to increase the render size to 1000x600 you multiply the focal length by 800/1000. So 40x.2=32mm that's your new focal length.

Yeah, just do the math. http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2013/01/overscan

You can also do this in any Max dialog. When you are in the render size or focal length dialog, just hit ctrl+n to bring up the numerical expression eval. Type in your numbers as you normally would on a calculator, and presto chango!

Thanks Guys for the great explanation!

Will try your method also, always nice to know how things work.

For the lazy people (like me ) I found this script :
