  • How to set up network rendering

Everything "just worked" with max 2016 and the on vray license system. I can't find any information on how to setup the new system.

My render slave has a fresh install of 3ds max 2017 and the latest version of VRay

Scanline rendering works fine on my render slave

VRay rendering FAILS on my render slave ( cannot find a license -7 )

I have a dongle for VRay. On my workstation VRay will not find a license without the dongle plugged in though the documentation implies that it should not be needed.

Can someone point me at the right bit of documentation. I been trawling the net for hours and i can't find anything on how to setup a render slave under the new licensing system.

    Many thanks

The dongle is still needed. Online licensing for now is offered with newly bought licenses only.
For the render slave to work:
    - make sure that you have the same V-Ray version on the workstation and on the slave
    - make sure the license settings are correctly set on the slave - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ServerSettings
    - the dongle should be plugged in on the machine that you have V-Ray license server installed. The latest license server can be downloaded from https://download.chaosgroup.com/license-server

I added render master IP to the slave using the "Change v-Ray client License settings" tool. Everything works now
