  • VRay for Rhino?

    Hi all,

With the recent announcement that Brazil is going to be made part of Rhino3D we got to wondering... well, if we can have Brazil, why not VRay to?

Okay you might argue its a bit greedy but with VRay.exe coming along it would seem like a great time to be getting involved. I'm not a programmer but apparently with the use of the Rhino3D SDK this should be possible and Bob McNeel himself has stated on the Rhino NG that they would assist in the process...

So come on guys, what do you think??

    Cheers

    K.

well you could start with buidling the connection to the already available vray.exe

then, implement features in the bridge as they become supported by the exe

I'm not a programmer... I just use programs... but even if I could I doubt I would do it as all I would be doing is increasing Chaosgroups profits... to my mind its something they should be doing.

I've been through the other posts and there's not really been any response from the Chaos Group.

I guess I'll be the one to say "Welcome to the forum".

You make a very good point. I think there will be companies that use Rhino that have their own programmers that will do this on an inhouse, proprietary basis if they think that VRay will benefit their production pipeline. Then there are others like you and myself who would prefer to pay for a plug-in that is produced and supported by the software maker, as will be the case of Brazil for Rhino.

            Hi Fran,

Its funny where people pop up on the net - not that I'm surprised of course!!

Thanks for the welcome - I really must sort myself out an avatar one of these days...

Hope all is good with you.
