  • Convert V-Ray to Standard

I need to convert one of our V-Ray projects to work inside the Unreal Engine. It there an option with V-Ray to convert from V-Ray to Standard material for easier transition into Unreal? I know there is a convert from Standard to Vray.

    Thanks!

How would that work? You just need to transfer textures? A standard mat doesn't have the complexity of a VRayMtl so I'd think the best you could do is transfer the maps...

For this purpose I use VRayMtlConverter v2.5 from ScriptSpot:

It's not perfect, but a pretty good start. It runs with 3ds max 2017.

I am facing the same problem at the moment, I have a lot of projects for an old client that needs conversion to standard materials. I've tried a few scripts already, but all of them leave the vraymaps (color, dirt etc.) in the converted standard material. Does anyone have a script that just deletes all vray specific maps from the scene?

If I have 1000 textures and I simply want to connect the texture from V-Ray Diffuse to a Standard Diffuse, that would hours. A script would be much faster. Curious if V-Ray has this feature built-in somewhere.

I don't think so but a scripted solution may exist, as noted by D3plus.

it's not exactly what you need, but pixamoon has a script that collects all maps and removes them, I suppose you could tweak that to replace the ones connected to diffuse instead of delete

the script is here : http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/sc...-slots-cleaner

Last year I was doing the same for export to UE4, but couldn't find anything suitable. In the end it was easier to write a simple script to do it and convert specifically as you need.
Im a complete newbie at scripting, so it must have been quite straightforward.
