  • proxies and unloading geometry....

    Hi there,

I?m currently working on some environments with lots of proxies (hand scattered via object paint). I created the proxies with a couple of turbosmooth iterations and standard displacement modifier on them. But since I ran into the "unloading geometry" issue on some render nodes with less ram (16 gb), I was wondering if this is the best approach with proxies.
Would it maybe be better for memory management to just use lowpoly proxies and put the displacement in the material? Although that might not work for all materials, since material displacement still can?t do negative displacement afaik. I already unchecked "trace reflections" on most materials to increase performance, how else could I optimize the scene?

Does it work better if you simply set the dynamic geometry limit to 0 in the V-Ray settings?

    Bets regards,
