    Is it possible to have soft Vray shadows? without using area shadows?

      you can still use shadowmaps with vray using standard lights. i still use shadow maps on a rare occasion.

        max area shadows workd very well, try that. Lower the settings and it will be quite fast and very good quality. Discreet little overdone that.

          What is the benefit of using max's area shadows instead of vray shadows set as area shadows? Would have thought vray's would be faster.
