    Hi,

Has anybody done the upgrade to Sp2?
    If so, any Vray/Max issues?
    Best regards,

This was the statement from the Discreet website yesterday.

"Although Discreet Testing and Product Support have not identified any specific problems to date, in some cases 3ds max 6 may not function as expected under Windows XP SP2. Therefore, Discreet support recommends that 3ds max 6 be run under Windows XP SP1."

    That should sum it up.

You should listen to Discreets advice.

I did the upgrade a few days back. So I started max 6 but it was unable to launch. Seemed like sp 2 didn't like my Sygate firewall and max 6 wouldn't launch due to that conflict. I had to shut it down while starting max 6, very annoying. No tweaks helped.

      Thought you should know.

With that said, I wonder what else I have to expect from sp 2? But it's not all bad though. I lost and won some, I took the risk.

      Best Regards
      Mike

The first thing I did after installing sp 2 was turning of the windows firewall...

The only issues I had were servers not responding to manager when using backburner and the VRay 1.457 not being able to commucate with the licence server. Both of which were fixed by turning off Windows firewall.

its removable via the Windows\$ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst\spuninst .exe

AutoCAD 2002 is running just fine for me. You probably just need to let autocad through the new windows firewall since the stupid AutoCAD today crap connects through the web.

Installed it and all seemed fine, but then Premiere Pro stopped rendering MPEGs so unistalled it and now all is back to normal.

                        My view is, don't bother.
                        Kind Regards,

No problems here. In fact, vray seems to be quicker because of the repairs that were done to the hyperthreading portion of the code. I haven't tried an animation to see if this fixed the problem so many were having with hyperthreading, but hopefully it does.

Oh yea, I also turned off the firewall before I did anything else.

Has anyone running WXPSP2 running with the /3GB Switch?

I heard they changed something in that area.
