So are you saying this is a list of three competitions or it will contain all in one? What exactly do you mean by particle? Just use a particle system in it somehow? I'll wait for the rules if you're going to explain in them.

I suggest picking a really nice open picture that we can add geometry and matte shadows to. Like an open field or an alley way or something.
        Just my 2 cents.

          @ J_Bug..

these are title's... what you make from these titles is completely upto you. e.g... Particle... = any sort of render to do with particles, whether it's some sort of dust particle's floating in the air or some sort of Molicule..

Rather than a specific Category i thought there would be more imagination put into it if you just give it a title... rather than Interior rendering or exterior.... so you can still do that sort of thing but you could have a particle of dust floating in the sunlight ...... you see what i mean.

This is why I like this ideea very much. Everybody can use her or his imagination about what a PARTICLE is and produce a render about a product, an interior, an architectural exterior, a character, a tree ....and I don't know what else. Whatever fits better to the competitors taste and experience in modeling, texturing.....

The result will be more than a render.

What about some smaller contests that are very specific to vray. Best Shader contest (1. skin, 2. carpaint,3. stainless steel, Fill in the blanks) We can use a standard model already supplied, and the users have to add lighting, gi, caustics, etc, to get the best possible result.

Another can be best displacement usage?

              Waterfall (Single image or animation)?

              Just some thoughts

I like a focused challenge like travistlo suggested, It's hard to find enough time to finish a whole scene. As proof I have about 6 unfinished 3DLuvr scenes :P

Well is this thread meant for ideas for the first challenge, or is it "the" actual challenge? Seems a bit vague at the moment.

Well my post earlier with the idea of still life was posted with the fact that as most of us are in full time jobs, doing huge renders of jungles (just an example) or any other huge scene would be too time consuming.
Not sure if I'm up for modelling a complete forest
With a still life (of any type of object or entity) one can at least complete it in a reasonable time span. More time to tweak and make it perfect.
                            Anyway....thats my philosophy.

Natty, what sorta time frame are you looking for in these competitions?? As this will govern what topic is suggested/chosen.

                              Thanks Mate.
