Two questions:

1) What ever happened to the f-Edge plug-in?
2) Would it work well with V-Ray displacement?

2) It probably works, but you'd probably have to mess with the displacement values a lot to get the correct result. I haven't tried this myself, since in most cases the bump option is sufficient.
