  • AF EXPORT CHANNELS & PSD MANAGER

Has anybody successfully used the AF Export Channels plug-in with vray? I managed to get it to work with standard raytracing & I love it, but I can't seem to get it to work with Vray.

If anybody knows how to make this work, pleeeeease let me know!

    Thanks,
    Tim

p.s. does psd manager work with vray? I tried the demo. but that version doesn't support viz 2005, and i'm not going to pay $150 for something that might not work.

Ok, well I guess this will be my own special thread!

I actually purchased both plug-ins to see which will work better - total of $185 investment.

AF shows a lot of promise, although I have only been able to test it out at low resolution until I get my registration #. (its been 3 days since I bought it and still no email). So I don't know how it will do with AA. What I don't like so far is that you have to render this utility seperate from your main frame buffer. So basically you have to render twice - one to see how it looks, and then another to export your layers.

I just registered my new version of PSD Manager and have been experimenting. There are so many options it took a while to get anything to work. But the good news is that it DOES work! But I don't think you can use the Vray frame buffer and psd manager at the same time since it relies on what it sees in the Max frame buffer. There might be a way around that, but I don't see one yet. I think I will end up using psd manager because there are lots of good options, like make layers for seperate objects, or by seperate materials, etc. Plus as an 'effect' its just a very quick post render process. From what I gather from other posts, its still not possible to make layers from render elements, but thats ok with me.

If anybody else is using either of these, please share your techniques & tips. This is all new to me, but can see how it will make my job a lot easier. I'll hopefully update this later when I get more experience with these plug-ins.
