  • Vray landscape, how to use backgrounds + animation + GI

I've been trying to create a large outdoor landscape scene. In the far distance is a mountain range. The ground plane extends until it meets the foot of the mountains.

I also what to animate the camera around this scene. (the background needs to remain static - impossible with mapping onto the environment.)

This also has implications for the GI. The only solution I could come up with was to make a big sky dome and map my mountains and sky onto it and gave the material self-illumination. The problem with this is that it takes 4x as long to render !

Surely there is a good way to do this in VRay....
