  • Orthographic views make BAD reflections

    Hi,

I am trying to render some elevations using either a orthographic camera, or even a front, left view etc. I am getting really nasty splotches and jaggy things on my glass that I don't get at any other time other then when I am rendering straight on. Its not the material either. I tried creating a brand new vray material with only reflection and I get the same problem.

Here is a perspective view which looks fine to me, and then here is the ortho. rendering which has gone nuts. It happens with either the reflect override on, or off - hdri or regular.

Anybody have a solution? I've tried searching for this issue before, but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

Please? Either nobody has any ideas, or its so obvious I should be able to figure it out on my own.

I dont really have much of a clue but have you tried either changing the hdr ... or changing the hdr mapping settings to Andular map ?....you never know

Yea, I wish it was just the hdri. Unfortunately the same thing happens when I don't use an hdri at all. I still get the splotchy lines even with standard environment reflections.

        Thanks for trying though.

I think I found the problem. I had been using the 'max depth' of 2 for reflection/refraction under the global switches. I unchecked it and I haven't had the problem since.
