  • leaky irradiance solution

i have always used some dummy settings i found on a forum for irradiance settings. i am having quality problems now, and am not sure what setting i need to tweak in order to fix them. i would do this by trial and error, but the render times tend to be long, so if someone could give me an idea of which setting to start tweaking first, it would be appreciated........

    my 'light' problems....

    my irradiance se.....

    thanks.

    Hi Travis,

Try enabling Check Sample Visability in the Advanced IR Map parameters.

try to increase the Interp. samples to about 60 (u can use a saved irrad map)
try to increase AA: adaptive threshold 0.01

in my experience it was never a good idea to boost up the First/Second bounce multipliers in version 1.09. it takes longer to render and can cause artefakts. use colormapping instead. or save unclamped in hdr/rpf/exr format and adjust brightness/contrast in post.

Your distance threshold might be too low for those thin gaps. Maybe try lowering the normal threshold in addition.

boy yuou have some really funky settings there man just in general

May I suggest a few things?

multiplier from 1.5 to 1.0 (if you need more light increase the multiplier on the light, or use a different exposure level such as exponential).

          Min/max from -5, -2 to -3, -1
HSph subdivs from 100 to 50
Secondary Subdivs from 30 to 5

as far as the light leak.. the earlier posts have soem good solutions for you.
