  • Flickering during animation

I am animating a helicopter flight, in the shadows a nasty flickering is ocurring. I am using

    - Multi Frame Incremental
    - A direct Light with Vray Shadows + Vray Enviroment solid color
    - -4, -2, 50 hsph, 20 Intrp sampls

I tried with other settings to no avail

The helicopter is rendered with Vray, the background is not. I am refering to the flickering of the shadows ON the helicopter.

    Is this a Vray Bug?

    hi

Rather than Multi frame you may have to calc every frame in single mode, because you have moving objects.

I tried single mode as well. Didn't help. The first few frames come out well and the it starts to degrade. Can you explain to me the use of multiframe incremental vs. Incremental Add to current map and Add to current map?

Could it be a bug, the flickering?

            Hi Sumario !

You do have to work with strong antialiasing in order to not have
            flickering.
You should use a soft antialiasing filter like soft or video.
Moreover, you have to use ADAPTATIVE QMC or FIXED RATE in the
            image sampler...
I use adaptative QMC with minimum subdivision at 1
            and max at 10...
I also compute images with "High-Animation" built in preset.

It's a bit longer to compute, but there is no other choice.

            Bye
            Gael

1/3 (0.03 tershold )is really enough, dont go ""crazy"" with the setings
if u have very very very fine details then lower the treshold to 0.01 but this is like white raven.

We finally ended up having to use Final Render because there was no way to remove the spots that are generated with a moving object in Vray. I look forward to having this bug removed in future versions. Until then, I have to say Final Render is a better engine for this type of animation.

I have to agree with Natty, looks like you are using a wrong Irradiance map mode. This type of animation is really no problem in Vray if you use the correct mode. The ones you mention in your previous post (multiframe incremental vs. Incremental Add to current map and Add to current map) are all the wrong type for moving objects. They are for camera only animation. If you use "Single frame" on an animation preset it should look fine.
