questions for lighting !

could you tell me what kind of light you use for exterior scence normaly ? i usually use Target light for sun, and raising the enviroment light (inside Render Scence) to make it brighter. But i think it isnt a good method for that, is it ?.

i use a standard direct light targeted on the building with a multiplier of 2-3 and then use a environment map with multiplier of about 2. my first bounce is 1.0 and second 0.7 (direct for second). Exp HSV of 1.2 for dark and 1.0 for light

I've been using these settings so far for all exteriors and they are coming out fine (for me)

How would you darken the intensity of the shadows in the scene while leaving the intensity of the rest untouched?

Max has this function but I cannot find even a combination of commands to accomplish this in Vray.
