How can I use HDRI in VrayMtl? I use VrayHDRI in tre reflect bar, and in VrayHDRI window I put a HDR map, but when rendering I cannot see anything reflected.

    Sorry about my English.

Can you post a screen shot of your render settings, and your material that should reflect. Its ussally something very simple.

      hi travistlo,
When I put HDRI map in environment slot, it's ok, but I don't want to see the HDRI map in the background of the rendering image. Here is my setting. Thanks in advance.

        Hi Ashleigh,

The Reflect slot in the VRayMtl is not for reflection maps, but for mapping the amount of reflectivty on the surface.

If you want only one object to reflect a map you can put it in the Environment map slot in the VRayMtl of that object.

If you want all your scene to reflect the same map, but you don't want it to be visible in the background you can add it to the Reflection/refraction etc environment slot in the VRay:: Environment rollout in the render scene window.

Think of it this way. The value in the map you oput in the reflection slot determines the strength of the reflection, just like the value of the colour swatch up by the reflection bit in the vray material. The hue and saturation controll the colour tint your reflections will get. Try it your self. Put a checker map in the reflection slot, and render a sphere with the material and something to reflect.

It means exactly that. You use a map to control how reflective the object is at various points. Try what trixian suggests and you will understand.
