  • Rings of light on the ceiling

    Hi!

Does anyone know what those rings of light are? The ceiling is a box with cilinders booleaned to make the holes for the lights. There's a plane with a white vray material (with no self illumination), and a vray light is pointing at it to make it appear as focal lights (is this a good way to do this? and an other way to do those holes? cause boolean sucks!)
    Thaaaanks!

can i ask why you are using two objects for the ceiling?.. why are you using a plane?

or is that the back wall ?

The whole room is a box with normals turned. I couldn't use that ceiling because the boolean makes a mess. So I use an other box as ceiling.
I know: it's untidy, but I had 1 day to do it. I didn't care much
And the white plane is for the holes look like lights.

well what you need yo do is use splines to model the ceiling.....

create the rectangle and circles inside...

then select the rectangle and edit spline....then attach the circle's and then extrude ....

Nice clean and simple .... no nasty crossing poly's to cause bad artifacts..

            Thanks.

Those polys can go crazy with boolean
