      Hi,
Can we know when the public beta is going to be released?
We are involved in a big architectural competition here at the office, wich has to be finished at November 8th, and using DR to produce the images would save our lives. :P

      Thank you,

      João.

        --on a lighter note--

ok. can everyone please just shut up now making me feel bad with only 6 buckets (2 computers) hehe. i feel less of a man now. but you know what they say. its not how many buckets you have. its how you use them (i think "they" just say that to make us bucket challenged people feel better about ourselves)

Chaos hasn't been doing public betas of Vray. They do however release demos of the product. The demo has DR turned off though. If you are a paid user, there is a beta version (not the newest build) available. DR on the 1.09 series (the stable, non-beta series) only works through Max5.

              Thanks Dynedain,

I have downloaded Vray 1.45.70 a few months ago and I am very pleased with it, but now I am worried about the competition and the time to render the stills... We have 4 dual Xeons just waiting to be used all the nights

Anyway, I will have to look for a workaround. Maybe using the infamous render strips....

              Thanks,
              João

I am using approx. 20 buckets with no problems so far. I have to say the new distributed rendering system is very good. Congrats to the Vray team.

did a little poking around with it alongside 'real work' today.. its Very smoothly implemented... MUCH more usable then the old version.

(though I did manage to screw mine up already still tracking down whats up, I've got a sinking suspicion its just a plugin gone awry, making the spawner restart max over and over again.)

Questions though, does it include maps when transferring the scene to the render slaves? a way to include or just use the 3dsmax paths as the scene requires would be helpful I think.

on a not so related note..
Another thing that i find pretty neat, is the ability of the 3dsmaxcmd.exe to send a job with alternate map paths on a per job basis.. Not so much a suggestion for dr, but a thought as to a different workflow thing.
