  • TREE STORM and Vray Problems

Has anyone been able to sucessfully render animated trees with Vray 1.45.70 and Tree Storm for MAX6? I have no problem with 3ds versions of the trees (but obviously no animation), but anything inserted with the Tree Storm plugin will not render. It goes to process the Irandiance map and just sits there. Not sure if it's just taking longer or it will not process, but after 20 seconds and not a single bar, I was not going to wait any longer.

Hi Jeff, are the trees instanced? I havent had any problems with tree strom and 1.45.70. Just make sure the motion of the tree isnt too insane. You dont really need the trees to be generating GI so you should turn that off and that should speed things up considerably.

Let me know how you get on

tree storm for max 6 on viz2005 with vray 1.45 works fine for me as well. I've only tried a light breeze though.

my problem is getting the rpc cars to move correctly

sorry, wish I could be of more help.

Actually I was able to get it to work. It turns out that I needed to adjust the subobjects to genrate UV from within the Tree Storm plugin. I just edited the Multi-sub material and broke the plugin connection by removing the vertex color manually.

Although I have a new problem where it seems that the GI from vray is not being calculated if I use the plugin. As soon as I convert the tree to an epoly or emesh it works fine. Vlado and the guys from Onyx are looking into it right now.
