  • Backburner with Vray question

Can anyone point me at a good tutorial or helpful web site for using Backburner with vray? I've tried the user reference & discreet web site but I've had no luck. I'm using Max 6 sp1 & vray beta 1.45.

My problem is this - I want to set up batch rendering on one machine, but the backburner server isn't able to open the max file to render the jobs in the queue.

    Thanks.

its been a loong time since i've done this so i may be out of date here..

Basically, you start on your local machine the backburner Manager (usually the machine keeping track of everything). then you start the Backburner Server (the machine that recieves the jobs to render) and point it to the managers location. in this case you set it to 'localhost' since the manager is on the same machine.

Now in max, when you render, there is a little checkbox under the area where you set the save filename .. Check that, when you rhit render a new dialog appears, in there you also put localhost for the manager name, and then fire away...

Control it all with the Queue manager..

    Cheers,
hope that was the right question

Thanks! Got it loaded as a service but I can't get the server to log in to the manager. Hopefully I'll find a solution soon.

we have it set up this way

Master : runs manager and monitor (set these up first and connect the monitor to the manager
        Slaves : run server

From the machine your running (can be master or slave) tick net render and save file in the render box, render, then connect then submit to the machines you can see after connecting.

        Firewalls may prevent backburner running.

Thanks for the tip. At the moment I'm trying to do batch rendering on one machine so the server and manager are on one machine. I'll try the firewall just in case.
