I was wondering if 1.5 will have any sort of viewport preview of the Vray displacement modifier. Currently I can only use a poor man preview of displacement adding the same map in the diffuse slot of an object's material, but I cannot see anything more that placement, not softness, depth, etc...
Also how much faster is Vray displacement in 1.5? is there a way to quickly see the displacement rendered only and not slowing down the whole rendering if complex setting/materials were applied? Like, is there a setting to make everything default gray just to see the displacement, and still don' have to reassign materials, etc. Some softwares have like a 'plaster' render pass to see just objects and lighting, ignoring other settings in the scene.
Is there any hope to see in future versions Vray displacements in the viewport, in real-time like in Zbrush?
